Based in Stockport (Cheshire), my photography journey started in the late 1980s when I started taking images with an old Praktica SLR.
I got hooked straight away & purchased a Pentax P30T which was a good camera for its time & underrated by the masses.
After using the Pentax for a year or so & learning all the time, I eventually moved to the Canon system when they changed to their EOS mount & I started to build a system around the EOS 10. This camera was at the forefront of film SLR technology & I used it to shoot everything from portraits to sports.
Of course in those days, every frame counted & the cost of developing rolls of film was fairly expensive as a hobby.
I joined a local camera club in the early 1990s & was introduced to a group of photographers who specialized in either portraits or wedding photography (or both).
I was asked if I'd like to 'tag along' to a wedding to help out & instantly wanted to try my hand. I borrowed a friend's medium format camera for a few weeks, learned how to use it & hired the same camera for my first booking.
The camera I rented was a Zenza Bronica SQA, a 6cm x 6cm medium format camera that shot just 12 frames on a roll but the quality was exceptional.
I shot 3 more weddings using a rented SQA & standard 80mm lens & then bought one with the profit I'd made from the previous weddings. I carried on shooting weddings & christenings for 15 years.
I still have the Bronica SQA cameras, lenses, film & Polaroid backs to this day but they seldom get used & are now only displayed in a cabinet.
I stopped shooting weddings in 2006 as the move to digital photography took over & went back to shooting 35mm digital cameras but this time just for pleasure.
I stuck with the Canon Eos system & now shoot using Canon 5D Mark IV & Canon's 'L' series lenses, which are renowned for their optical quality.
Although I still shoot for pleasure, all the images I've taken are for sale & each can be delivered either digitally or as hard copy, either printed in-house or for anything larger than A3 size via an outside company.
So now I shoot Landscapes, Seascapes, Waterfalls & Portraits as you'll see within this site
Enjoy!
